Paul J. Ryan
— Founder, Stix & Stone Construction
"I've been swinging hammers since the age of fourteen, when I discovered I loved to build things. I'm a veteran of the United States Navy, where I served as a welder and fabricator with NMCB 133. After the Navy I worked on foundations for custom homes, built trusses, and came full circle working with several master builders and tradesmen — refining my skills as a carpenter and eventually becoming a fully registered General Contractor."
A Philosophy Built on Integrity
My Journey

I'm a family-focused Pacific Northwesterner who has been fortunate to live, work, and raise a family from Seattle to Anacortes and the San Juan island communities. My family and I enjoy spending time together on the water, boating through the San Juans and visiting the different ports of call. We value the sense of community, connection, and genuine people that make this region such a great place to live and grow.
I believe strongly that you reap what you sow — in work, in friendships, in family, and in service to others. Excellence, accountability, and integrity guide both my professional life and my personal one.
That same philosophy carries into every Stix & Stone project. Your home and your family's well-being in it matters. I treat every build, remodel, and repair with the same level of respect and care that I would give my own home.
"Many contractors know how to build. Few have spent years investigating why buildings fail. That distinction influences every project we undertake."
From structural welder in the U.S. Navy, to foundation work in Colorado, to apprenticing under a Danish Master Carpenter in Seattle — every chapter of my career has shaped how I build.
After the Navy I started building foundations for custom homes in Colorado in 1993, then moved to Seattle where I worked in underground utilities, heavy equipment, and short plats. A custom home builder in Mukilteo brought me on as their in-house operator — eventually growing into framing, then finish work under a Danish Master Carpenter who recognized my attention to detail, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving ability.
I became the on-site point of contact for building inspectors and client change orders — a role that shaped my deep respect for code compliance and clear communication. I later went back to school studying construction, computer-aided design, and IRC building codes, then launched my own construction company in Seattle alongside my wife, a trained architect.
In 2014 I founded iNK Home Inspections LLC, becoming a Board Certified Master Inspector. That inspection knowledge now strengthens every Stix & Stone project — built not just to look good, but to truly last.
